At American Financial, we understand that we are a part of a larger community, whose members may need a helping hand occasionally. With that in mind, we are ready and willing to pitch in where needed.
Just as we share our knowledge and experience with producers, we share our time, talents and good fortune with those in need. Here are just two examples of our commitment to our community.
Second Harvest Heartland. Without the help and support of this community-wide effort, thousands of our neighbors would not have the nutritious food they need. As the largest hunger relief organization in the upper Midwest, Second Harvest relies upon hundreds of volunteers for its survival.
Second Harvest benefits from over 60,000 hours of volunteer time each year. We’re proud to say many of those hours were put in by members of the American Financial family. Our staff members helped organize many successful food drives, by collecting food and helping to package it at the Second Harvest distribution center.
Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners. This Minneapolis social services agency relies on the goodwill and generosity of hundreds of donors each year. To help the IOCPs reach its goals, volunteers participate in an annual winter “Sleep Out.” This community effort helps to raise awareness about the plight of the homeless, while providing help for nearly 1,000 local families living in poverty.
A fearless team of American Financial staffers annually lace up their winter boots and zip up their down parkas to be part of the IOCPs annual Sleep Out. Huddled in tents, our very own “Polar Team” braves the elements throughout the long, cold Minnesota nights.
Along with hundreds of other community volunteers, we help the IOCP reach its annaul goal. Those funds help bring stability and comfort to hundreds of area families, at a time when the need for basic services is growing.
